Sorry, but I feel very disappointed. After reading the PIP allocation section I see that reserves cannot be played under DBMM. Being a reserve command means that few PIPs will be needed initially and many in later stages of tha battle. Under the new system you must allocate the higher or the lower dice (assuming a regular army) in order to get that effect, but that's not effective.
Could someone justify why this important historical tactic has been removed from DBMM? It is possible under DBM!! :o

The Regular C-in-C can expend 3 Pips to change dice allocation - with a penalty next turn
This can be used to change dice away from a high command about to break/just broken
or to switch to the reserves
can use the high dice to deliver your initial attack (especially impetuous troops) and then swap round to bring up the reserves to plug gap or exploit advantage - requires some planning and timing and a touch of risk - not good if your C-in-Cs command has lowest dice
Not sure many have "exploited" this benefit of regular pip allocation
Have only just started to use it myself and (as long as you remember to do it) it can work very well

Also the CinC can actually use his own PIPs to move troops of other commands if he is grouped with them - pg 26, 3rd para from the bottom.
I have used this to move troops from low-PIP commands quickly when I need them to.
