Hi,
With an eye to perhaps setting up a semi-regular DBMM competition in the Huddersfield area I?m hoping to set up a DBMM100 tournament to take place towards the end of March and would like to get an idea of potential numbers before finalising a date/venue.
The date will be one of the following: Sat 22nd Mar, Sun23rd Mar, Sat 29th Mar or Sun 30th Mar.
The venue is undecided, but will be somewhere in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, which is easily accessible by road & rail, and within 30-40 minutes of Leeds, Manchester & Sheffield.
The tournament format will be Open, using 125AP armies on 30? boards (which will be provided). All games will be an hour long, and will use the DBMM100 variant rules and VP scoring from the DBMM rulebook. Army lists must be legal and conform to the element minima & maxima outlined in the DBMM100 variant rules and the corresponding DBM Bk I, II & IV and DBMM Bk III army lists. Ideally players should submit army lists in advance for checking by the organiser. Players will be encouraged to bring terrain features appropriate to their army, although there will be some terrain available on the day. Although it is a competition the emphasis will definitely be on having fun, and new/inexperienced players will be most welcome.
I?m proposing that players are grouped into 4?s with each player playing each other in their group once, guaranteeing everyone at least 3 games! The player with the most points from each group will then move on to a quarter final/semi final draw, with the eventual finalists playing each other with a pair of opposed armies provided by the organiser. Initial groupings will, where possible, be formed along historical lines, ideally Biblical, Classical, Dark Ages, & Mediaeval.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st & 2nd place, with the possibility of further prizes for the best painted army and nicest scratch-built terrain.
I?d appreciate it if any interested players could email/message me with their preferred date(s). Once I have sufficient numbers (upwards of 12) I?ll finalise a date and arrange a venue.
My gaming group, The Kirklees Crusaders, will most likely have 4 or 5 players in attendance, so I?m almost halfway there already..
Hope to see some of you soon
