Title: DBMM in Canberra on June long weekend 2008
Post by: Barritus on April 13, 2008, 09:02:12 AM
Folks

There are provisional plans for a DBMM competition at the Phenomenon convention over the Queen's Birthday long weekend in early June.

If it goes ahead, I'm planning a 4 round 2 day competition, 400 points.

The competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday, the 7th and 8th of June, leaving Monday for a leisurely drive back to Sydney or Melbourne, extra time for shopping at stalls, or a Big Battle, as it takes people's fancy. Entry cost will be $32.

It will be an open competition, using DBMM List Book 3, DBM List Books 1, 2 and 4 as amended by the DBMM Appendices, and I'll also be happy to accept lists based on the latest version of the DBMM List Book 2 lists as published on the DBMM Yahoo Groups email list.

Phenomenon is being held at Daramalan College in the North Canberra suburb of Dickson. There are plenty of restaurants and even accommodation at the Dickson shops nearby, and the venue is actually only a couple of kilometres away from the Cancon venue.

I'd appreciate it if you could let all your DBMM-playing friends, and even those just vaguely interested in the game, know about this. I apologise for the short notice, but we hadn't been certain until the last few days that Lance and Arrow (the usual June long weekend comp) wouldn't be held. The competition will only go ahead if there is sufficient interest.

If you have any questions, please ask here or email me at peter DOT barritus AT yahoo DOT com DOT au.

Cheers

Just to clarify, this is a 15mm competition.

And if anyone is interested, I have enough figures to put together three armies to lend to people without armies of their own (probably Greek/Hellenistic, Late Imperial/Patrician Roman, and something Norman).

I hope you can make it.

Folks

Below is the official blurb for DBMM at Phenomenon. For those of you who don't know, Phenomenon is a (mostly) roleplaying convention in Canberra, held over the Queen's Birthday long weekend in early June. However, there will also be a number of miniatures events there.

Please note the price for the two day event is $24, the scale is 15mm, army size is 400 points plus another 10 points only for stratagems, and that a small number of armies are available for loan.

Cheers

Folks

For those of you interested in playing DBMM at Phenomenon over the June long weekend, the blurb is now up at the Pheno web-site. Go to http://pheno.ozgamer.net/ and follow the links for miniatures.

You'll need to enter via the web-site. But you have to send your army list(s) to me directly. Please note DBMM doesn't appear on the entry form at the moment, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Remember, programmed armies are allowed if you want to try a bit of variety over the 2 days. For those of you from outside Canberra, the web-site has a map showing the convention's location.

Cheers
