I would be very interested to know roughly how may people out there are playing
DBMM and where they are.
I am a member on this forum and the Yahoo list, but its quite often the same voices
time and again on these forums. In light of some of the negativity emanating from
some countries and from fans of other rules, I would be interested to see answers.

Hi
No Name Location Numbers Playing
Gary Barr N.Ireland
Stephen Brittain N.Ireland
We are not a club as such just regular opponnents, Stephens brother John also plays occassionally and I think at least another couple of local players use Dbmm.
Several N.Ireland regular Dbm players now play FOG I believe as do we on occassion..................
Cheers

Neil Fox Germany estimate 20+
we have had several events, each with 8 - 12 players, but it?s not always the same people.
With DBM, the biggest German event was 34 players, of which about 10 were from abroad (Finnland, Switzerland, France). Most German DBM events were about 16-28 players.
Our biggest problem is the lack of a translation. People who understand reasonable English struggle with the new rules. FOG is pretty, is written in very simple English and will soon be available in German. This has attracted some of the 6th Edition ( ! ) players and has also some DBM players.)

I have added 6+6 because we have about 6 regulars at the Auckland Wargaming Club, plus I'm aware of another 6 at a neighbouring club (North Shore Wargaming Club). Apologies to any NSWC members if I have this wrong. We had a small competition in February 2008 and we had 16 players from the 2 clubs plus an umpire - some appear to have drifted away from DBMM. We have a few others that have tried it but our club has split into DBMM, FOG and fence-sitters.
Personally I think it is a great game - vastly superior to 3.1. I have no negative comments - I may question some rules and interpretations but I still love the game!
Cheers
Andrew

Due to various factors I'm not able to play as often as I would like, but will continue to support DBMM.

Thought I would tidy up a little.... I've also added a notional number for the
Dublin crowd. Attending a comp there this Sunday with 14 plus players.
Finding this very interesting. Especially the Spanish contingents. I was at the ITC in
Lisbon last month where I was told that Spain had gone entirely to FoG. Would seem
this is incorrect.
Regards
Richard

Unfortunately, we have a problem in Spain with DBMM. I don't want to accuse anyone, but I must say that there is an active campaign against DBMM here. Sorry, I can't speak due to the presence of other Spanish users in this forum. I just can say that we are still fighting aganist the tide! :'(

It's a bit sad that supporters of other rules feel they have to actively work against DBMM - but it's their choice.
I suggest ignoring them as much as possible, playing your own game as much as possible, and letting them look like petty jerks as much as possible....
BTW if 2 and 10 are the same should they be on the same line?

18) Tim Child WAR (Reading, UK) 3 regulars, another 4-6 who will play occasionally
I've added the Reading crew to the list. Most of our DBx gamers are now playing Flames of War, there's usually one FOG game going on. We Three Men don't get to the club as often as we ought to proselytize!
Like others, I'm fascinated to learn of the existence of 28 Spanish players in an area that popular legend has it is now dead to DBx. Viva Espana!
(For some reason, Landmeister, I'd assumed that you were German. I apologise to you (and to the Germans ;) ).

Hi Tim,
Well, it's a very hard work to be a DBMMer here. The terrible "misty" ;D Romans throw us into their Circus Maximus spectacles as a divertimento, so we have to hide into the catacombs. But one day... ;D
On the other hand, I can understand your confussion. Landmeister IS a German word, bit I'm not German. I accept your apologises. ;)

Be good to see some over in the UK where the Competition scene is growing and is both welcoming and friendly (the same can be said for Ireland and Italy)
The BHGS Challenge will take place in Ascot April 4th/5th (with practice day on the 3rd) - its only 15 miles from Heathrow Airport
5 games are guaranteed in the comp and did i mention the beer fridge
Kind Regards

Hi Dave / All
Realistically it would be good to pick a couple of competitions next year to try and get a lot
of International travellers at. One would certainly have to be the European Continental Championships
in Rome later in the year - BTW has Lorenzo any info on this yet ?
For another comp it would make sense for this to be one of the two large BHGS competitions, either the Challenge or Britcon. Both are near to airports with onsite accomodation. Personally I think Britcon would be better but it has the downside of being in the middle of the holiday season. In Ireland we currently have the Celtic in Dublin later in April which may cause a bit of a problem for those of us who travel. Certainly my Wf(S) may be less than impressed.
What do others think ? Lorenzo ? Landmeister ? Neil ??
BTW the Irish already have 7 of us committed to making Britcon next year.... that may not
be an incentive ;D
