Title: One about averaging PIPs
Post by: landmeister on January 27, 2009, 07:55:57 PM
I have a question. I choose that one of my commads will have the second highest PIP dice and that the other two generals will average dice (the highest and the lowest). One of these generals is killed, so its dice cannot be averaged. What happens to the other averaged dice? Is it the lowest or the highest?

Thank you

:) I have always taken it to be that the one dice that was left from averaging would be the highest of the remaining 2. Sometimes with flank or delaying commands I will specify which is highest and lowest of the remaining regular dice and which will then average with the arriving command but this could be all wrong.

Maybe it should be stated at the start which gets highest - middle - lowest and then averaged between which commands.

Either way it should some how be explained ( probably by umpires rather than ruleset ) how to do this.

The command with the dead general now dices independantly - no problem there.

the remaining allocated dice however, retain their position - so the "2nd highest" dice remains allocated to the command it originally was allocated to - which, as William says, leaves the highest dice for the command that previously averaged.

For flank marching and delayed commands I always jsut put them into the regular allocation and dice independantly until they actually arrive.
