Byzanz invades the Jurchen-Chin state in spring
We dice for deployment... 1:1
This means:
- it is 2:00 in the morning. As it is spring the army moving first may decide if to start 1h before dawn or at sunrise.
- but who really decides this? As at 2:00 there is no moon, so visibility is 80 paces it should be the invador, right?
- so the defender deploys first, then the invador moves first in this case. That is how we read it.
- How far may the invador move at night with no moon? 80 paces? 120 paces? Or usually 80 paces but 90 degree turns are now allowed? We were unsure...
And a silly one we have too:
- are Reg LH(S) and Irr LH(S) fighting as (O) against each other? Or are they not identical enough?
-
Answer to your second question: Yes, both (S) nullify each other. ;)

[it] If raw deployment dice scores are equal you dice again and the total of all raw scores gives the time that deployment is completed [p22]. Battles can't start before 3am.

[it] Pre-dawn visibility will always be less than 400p so yes, the invader would be moving first [p26] and therefore would have the option to attack encamped enemy.

[it] Visibility on a moonless night is limited to 80p [p23,25]. The 14 Apr draft permits moves to exceed visibility range by 40p[p29] so 120p IMO.

Thank you. That is how we played it also on the tournament in Ulm last weekend.

The other thing to watch for is that not only is movement limited to the range of visibility i.e. if max visibility is 120p that is the maximum any element can move, even if it could move say 200p, but also command radius visibility is limited to to the max visibility range so any elements or groups outside the range will cost more pips to move. You need to remember this when deploying!

Yes,
but the rule on command radius existed in 1.0 too
the movement has changed: it is now visibility+40 paces, it was visibility distance only before
