Title: Classical Indians
Post by: Barritus on October 03, 2010, 02:46:31 PM
Folks

Can anyone point me towards some sources of information (or pictures) to help with painting my Classical Indian army?

At the moment my thought is to paint it for the Mauryans, but base the archers as irregulars.

Cheers

FWIW, there's some pictures and information in Duncan Head's Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars.

This has some useful nuggets (alongside some bits to be treated with a huge pinch of salt):
http://www.hinduwisdom.info/War_in_Ancient_India.htm

http://www.whereincity.com/articles/historical/1673.html has some useful descriptions. The same article used to be available with lots if oictures of carvings but that seems to be a dead link now.
