I would like to know if there is any interest in running DBMM at the ITC in Lisbon on 3/4 September. We need at least 6 teams to ensure that there are 4 games against different opponents.
Please let me know by the end of April if you are confident you would will attend if we can get sufficient interest from other countries. Please include the names of your 4 players in this email registering interest. This is in an effort to avoid the problems that occur if a team drops out late in the process, and possibly leaving us with odd numbers or a non viable tournament (never an issue when we had 16 teams, but quite real now numbers are low). If you would like to enter, but are not certain yet if you can get the 4 players together, please let me know also, although make this clear. It is not too hard to add an extra team in later, as long as we have time to sort out and ensure even numbers of teams to avoid byes.

Traditionally the rankings system has been used to determine who goes -
invites sent by Nik working down the rankings until team sorted
That was very much when there was a glut of players (although believe Nik did that last year as well)
I would suggest that if someone is thinking of going - they pick up the mantle (Ray ;-))- i wouldnt necessarily worry about working through the rankings - if you get 4 well done - if 5 thats in the nice problem to have category
Most likely to go are on this list and/or at Challenge in a fortnight - basically if you can get 4 pledges from that you have a fighting chance
However, I can see a prob straight away - correct me if wrong but the dates clash with Oxford Doubles of which a few have already shown interest (BTW that needs a list checker any volunteers)
The ITC comp gets very good press from those that have been in the past so worth serious consideration. Mike certainly is looking for an clear indication/statement of intent at this point - not necessarily a guaranteed comittment (although nice) so as long as intent is clear now would be the time to speak up.
Kind Regards
