Ambushing generals
« on: July 14, 2009, 10:28:11 AM »
;) Going over stratagems for a 200AP competition and noticed something I had not paid attention to before ( well much ).

A general can only ambush if the rest of his command is in that ambush, previously I have taken it( as a defender ) that the generals command could be split over the 2 ambushes allowed, this would be incorrect, the whole of the generals command must be in one ambush if he wishes to hide as well.

Or am I wrong again.

William ;D

You have paraphrased what it says and IMO is is always a good idea to start at the exact wording:

"An ambush cannot include a general any of whose troops are not in the ambush, ..[etc]"

so no - you are not wrong - the use of "the ambush" is singular and definite - "the ambush" is that which includes the general - nto another one.

Basically your wording is simpler and accurate....but it always pays to check the original with Phil's rules! :)
