Albanians at NDBLs Rnd 5

Second and final outing to Northern doubles league - Round 5.  Took Albanian again. This time made some changes to previous list. Reducing Archers as BwI and adding more LH. You have to take a minimum of 18 Archers as BwI or PsO.  My list:

A: CinC: 1 CvO, 8 LhO, 8 BwI, 6 BwO, 1 ArtS, 1 ArtI, 4 RKnO, 4 BdO, 6 PsO.  41 ME
B: Sub:  1 CvO, 18 LhO, 6 AxO, 3 PsO, 1 PsS.       29 ME
C: Identical except 2 PsO and 1 BwI.                          29ME
D: 6 BgF.                  6ME  Total 105 ME
First game was against Mike Leese's Seleucid. Mike invaded in Summer starting at 4am. Weather no effect and and no night attack. Got a scrubby gentle hill on my left and another on Mikes table edge. Mike got a rough hill and an Orchard with  both Hills between Orchard on left flank. They would have a minimal effect on game. Mike was new to DBMM and wasn't too well on day so we took our time and got off to a slow start. We got five bounds into game before time was called. I deployed cmds from left to right as C. A. B with Ax,PS, BwI out on wings. Mike moved first and his Pk moved forwards with KnF/Lh. In my bound C's foot stopped short of leaving the GHs facing Orchard and Mikes AxS/PSO on RH. My BdO expanded into line and Lh created overlaps against his KnF/LhF. Later in my own bound the Bd rolled higher against his Pk  and the LhO against his LhF/KnF resulting in 15% losses to Seleucid before time was called. I had only 2 spent Lh and 2 spent Ps. 14-11 to Albanians.
Second game Played against Geoff Pearson and Brian Pierrpoint. They took Milanese option Italian Condotta. This army came with KnO/KnS, PkS and PsS. Smaller but good quality. And all regular.  I was invading and chose winter then chose two Fe's of Gentle Scrubby hills. got  one on my table edge and the other on my left as before. Condotta used a M, RF and a BUA. The RF served as a flank for the baggage and played no part in game while the BUA  protected the Condotta left flank. The Marsh near left flank was a jumping off point for their PsS. Tried to get a night attack on deployment but can't do it if using winter! Weather played no part in game.
Condotti deployed first and moved first. Used command again as C.A.B formation.  Condotti deployed in line across board as PsS, KnO, PkS, KnO/KnS - the latter supported by PsS.  Cmd A took hill on my table edge and the Art faced his Kn cmd. On their turn the KnO/S cmd stayed put while the Swiss pike raced across the board. My pips were weak especially on my left flank and it wasn't long before they were restricted from moving off the hill without getting into trouble. My right flanks foot moved towards the BUA and the LH moved left towards the Condotti's left flank. I moved my CinC's Lh across the front of my Art to attack the enemy Kn/Pk. The condotti knight cmd took advantage by advancing no longer in the Artillery's sights. The CinC's Lh helped by Knights had to engage. During the next few bounds the Condotti Kn cmd was engaged by Lh from two commands and my Kn. It eventually broke and some Lh went sponno toward the baggage.  By now the CinC's cmd on the hill was in trouble with Swiss pike rolling up its flank and my having few pips to deal it. The left flank saw an opportunity to gain an overlap advantage and advanced off their hill but it was a risky attack and after a loss of combats the reminder of the command found themselves overlapped. I can't remember which command broke first but the Swiss pike rolled up my CinCs foot and breaking it.  The game ended 17- 8 to the condotta.
Pleased with the way it performed again and better than round 4 with less Bw and more Lh. If i had to make changes to list i would replace the single BwI in C cmd with a LhI for same cost. The Art in Rnd 4 did really well but were just bystanders in this round. I should have manouvered the Ax,PS from B to help CinC's foot on the Rgo Hill assuming from memory it would have made it into combat? Tho B did get the best pips in game.  you really do need good pips for this army to move troops of different speeds where you want them to go.

I have to thank Colin Betts and Geoff Pearson for putting me up and tea and biscuits otherwise would not have made it to venue. Its a shame Birmingham has nothing like MAWS. Its a really good club.
