DBMM200 - Terrain
« on: May 09, 2017, 08:40:15 AM »
DBMM200 allows 0-3 FE for the Defender.
All linear features (with the exception of B) are 1 FE.
Max. one 1FE sized terrain feature can be choosen by each player.

Some player state that with these rules a defender would not be able to set up 3FE
because in Chapter "Choosing Terrain Features" it is stated that max. three 1/2 FE sized features are allowed per player.

That is wrong:

A Player can still choose
- a linear feature (1FE)
- a terrain feature (1FE)
- two terrain features (1/2 FE each)

Another statement was, this would not be within the meaning of the rules
because this would result in a disproportional use of water features.
This is also wrong, since a 2nd Rd or a PRd can be used.

There are opinions that the restriction for the 1/2 FE sized features should be canceled for that format.
I disagree with this demand.

Having played quite a number of games with 240AP my experience is that mounted armies
are penalised already with the existing rules in this format.

What do other players, who have experience with this Format think ?

Thanks, Axel

In my limited experience of MM200 we allowed more than 3 x 1/2 FE features and I didn't notice any particular disadvantage to mounted armies.

As far as what the rules actually say goes, your reasoning is sound. With a 1 and three halves allowed, the defender is not missing out on much area terrain.
