Befuddled Guide - Impetuous Move Survey

Hi Peeps

I've created a new survey looking at five areas of spontaneous advance using the
same on line service that I used to run the Report Card survey:

With this survey all questions, bar the first, are compulsory but you only have
to tick boxes on fourteen options covered by the five main questions.

Interesting survey - I would be interested to see the results.

I ended up submitting a 2nd set of answers after I read the rules and decided I wanted to change my answers for 5 & 6.

Great stuff!

There should be a lot more of those surveys.
Easy ones for the beginners, so they can learn the game and difficult ones for the more experienced players.

It is a great way to look at and understand the rules.
Of course there should be not only answers/results but also explanations why the answers are or are not correct.

Have you considered for the last 2 questions there is actually another way of getting into contact without doing the move straight forward and pivot etc.?

Cheeky.  I think it's more a case of "Assuming anyone knows what the correct ..".

My interpretation:

From page 28 :
"A tactical ... move by a single element ... can be in any direction ... ."

From page 30:
"To move its front edge into contact or overlap with the closest enemy element in reach part of which is directly in front... ."

Given this is a single element, it is not constrained by the group movement rules and can place it's front edge into contact with the flank of the enemy, without stipulating how it got there, given there are no other issues with TZs, interpenetration and gaps etc.  This was what initially confused me with your questions - I think the outcome is correct for the full flank contact, but the method as to how you got there is not.  If the spontaneous element was the lead element of a column then the method of movement may be as you have shown it.

The clue is in the title.  It's not a single element move.

Ok........nice catch with the single element move (my bad!).......but the rule I quoted from page 30 doesn't stipulate how you make contact.
