Am I wrong or attacks on rear corners of groups are unresolved? Single elements must end up front to front, that's clear. But what happens when it's a group? If I read correctly, the player has two options.
1. Breaking the group by lining up front to front the contacted element, but only if no more than 80 p are needed to do it (chariots should move more, so they can't).
2. Not lining up the contacted element so counting as in frontal combat and overlapped on that flank?
Thank you in advance
The new wording in v2.0 says "line up in close combat", not "end in front edge contact". The contacted element makes the minimum EMTLU to end lined up in any of the valid close combat situations (flank, rear or front edge). 80p will normally be enough for one of these, so this issue is resolved (as resolved as front corner contact, anyway).
If lining up is impossible or an element of a group chooses not to, then it counts as in frontal combat and overlapped on that flank. It would have an additional -1 factor for enemy in contact with a rear corner preventing recoil.
IF the attacker thinks lining up will not occur, it usually would be worth his while putting a slight wheel into his move so he has to EMTLU to line up with the defender's rear edge, if this is possible.
