Bd/Bw rear support
« on: June 18, 2011, 04:07:01 AM »
Bottom of p36, "Blades (S) or (O) supported by a 2nd rank of Bow(S) or (O) or vice versa"

Does the vice versa apply ONLY if so specified in the army list? Eg if the army list says Bw can support Bd, does this rule allow Bd to support Bw in that army?

Yes. This is why it says vice versa.  ;)

I hope you're right. What makes me doubt, is that in the particular list I'm looking at, it says Bw can support Bd, but doesn't say Bd can support Bw. And the rules say this type of support must be expressly permitted by the army list

But remember that there is no list specifiying that Bd can support Bw. None in more than 300 armies! This is why the rules say vice versa  ;).

Are you sure that's right? The 100 Years War English list says:
Quote
Bd (S) or (O) can support Bw (S) or (O) and vice versa.

And the Wars of the Roses and Tudor English list says:
Quote
Bd (S) or (O) can support Bw (S) or (O) and Bw (S) or (O) can support Bd (S) or (O).

I can find similar statements for the Medieval Spanish and Early Burgundian lists too.

My answer would be No. As far as I'm concerned we have to read the lists exactly as written, unless it's covered by the errata.

There are plenty of lists which specify the support goes both ways, so if there's a list which says it goes only one way, then my interpretation would be that support in the opposite direction isn't allowed.

For the record, which list are you referring to? After a quick scan I can't find a list which fits your description.

But they can support each other. Read the bits in square brackets.

Don't worry. :-) As I look through the lists, I can't find an example where the support is only one way. So it may be a moot point.

Please don't say "allmoges". "Allmoge" is a collective noun (meaning something like "all the people"), and needs no plural ending here.
