This website is an unofficial official website for the De Bellis Magistrorum Militum (DBMM) set of ancient wargaming rules, written by Phil Barker and published by WRG. When I describe it as unofficial I mean that the site and any of the opinions expressed on it are by no means endorsed by either Phil Barker or WRG. When I say that it is official, I mean that there isn't a more official version out there for you to find.
Linked from here, you will find various other web assets for DBMM. The largest of these, although possibly a little daunting for the unwary is the Yahoo Group for DBMM. This is the main development forum for DBMM, but be warned, the signal to noise ratio can be quite low and the debates can get pretty heated. If you raise something on there and get flamed, its probably not really aimed at you - the issue has almost certainly been raised before and people will assume that you are trolling.
More gentle, especially for the new player is the DBMM Forum. This is moderately well categorised and people tend to be a lot politer in answering questions on here.
There is also a link to the DBMM Wiki, maintained by Rob Brennan, which contains a useful repository of errata, battle reports, sample army lists etc.

DBMM V2 is now published and available to buy from Amazon and Monarch. V2 will be familiar to anyone who has played V1 but simplifies and clarifies a number of areas of the rules, including baggage, marching and superior grade factors.
If you live in the UK you can order from Amazon and Monarch Military Books from these links below :-

Now that Books 1, 2 and 3 of the army lists have been converted to DBMM and revised in the list of the latest historical research and opinion, Book 4 is under the spotlight. Much work has been done and the latest drafts can be found, as always, in the Files section of the DBMM Yahoo Group. Most of the straightforward conversion is done and there are now just the more contentious changes to be addressed, including the horror that is the Mediaeval German list. Phil has resisted pressure to split this into multiple lists but hopefully improved formatting will be able to make something more comprehensible in the absence of the perfect solution. |
